Kaleidoscope Sky over Raasay Sound

I was holding my breath, it was such a truly incredible sight to witness. The storm passed very quickly and then this dance in the heavens of sparkling light on majestic clouds sprinkling down to the waves surrounding the Isles of Raasay, Rona and Skye. Perched on the cliff near the Mealt Falls I had the wonderful opportunity to make numerous rapid sketches crouched low away from the day trippers in the car park nearby who had come for a photo of the Tartan Rock. This is the third painting derived from that afternoon, each depicting a different shift of the light as the colours deepened and receded in turn.
